When I was applying to colleges and scholarship programs GPA was just something they had to check off. All anyone really cared about was ACT/SAT scores. I spent quite a few sunday afternoons with a tutor trying to get 2 more points to get a scholarship to the school I really wanted to go to.
I use to hire people and I would never hire a 4.0 student, why they never made a mistake in the real world there are no books or teacher to tell you how to do things right. Too many time I have seen these 4.0 type fall apart when they make a real world mistake, they never had to learn from making a mistake. They do not know how to go into problem solving mode when the answer is not in a book or online somewhere.
