Thanks for your help, I tried this last week and the connections are the same, and the LCD and backlights come on. The problem is, it sent the aircon absolutely haywire!! Fan speed control worked, but it was rotating the air distribution in a cycle from footwell, to front vents, to windscreen, and back again, and cycling up and down in speed.
Is this likely just to need reprogramming? If so, where can I get this done? I imagine BMW won't touch it?!
