Hey, I'm sorry the internets are so big and scary, but they're not all about hugs and warm milk. He already answered his own question, which is to go aftermarket.
Since the M3 rear cans are separate and come around each side of the rear differential (as you'd expect for a rwd V8) and the 328i come off only one side of the straight motor, and to the left of the differential, getting the right side M3 exhaust mounted would be a little tricky. He'd be better off with something like the E46 M3 (oddly, also a straight six) that had a cosmetic muffler that spanned the rear valance and had four tips on one silencer.
