Below is a message from the insurance company. I am trying to get BMW to send engineers out to investigate the cause of the fire - however, after just speaking to them they will only go out and look at the car if the insurance company instruct them to and not otherwise!

If BMW would like to go and see the vehicle let me know and I will authorise
Copart to let them in to their compound to see it. Our engineer will not
necessarily be able to say why the fire occurred, the main objective of the
report we make will be to value the vehicle and give it a total loss category if
it is a confirmed write off, therefore it would probably be best if BMW went
to see the vehicle themselves in my opinion.
