I figured out what I was doing wrong...I didn't read the instructions!! Because I updated the iDrive firmware using the UBS port located in the center console, I just assumed I was supposed to use the same for the map updates. After re-reading the instructions for the third time...I realized my dumb mistake. Use the port in the glove box... Thanks to Sergej for the code!
