Hello everyone! Thank-you to OP for the steps to update maps. The process worked perfectly, however I don't think my maps updated.
I have a 2011 328i xDrive and I found that the manufacturing date is 05/2010. The car is stock, without any modifications. The maps software for North America was from 2010 and I updated it to North America Premium 2018-1. Under navigation options, it says that my maps software is North America Premium 2018-1.
The issue is when I search for points of interest that appeared in my city, I get no new results. I just get the search results I got back in 2010, making me believe that the software update wasn't successful, despite the system saying it is installed.
Do I need to update the firmware or other software of my car before the maps update appears correctly? Did I miss something and do something wrong? I appreciate the support and tips. Have a great day everyone!
