BMW are no longer replacing the whole DCS hydraulic unit like they were doing at the start when this issue raised its head. Then they were replacing the unit at a cost of £1200 plus labour but have since provided a fix that isolates the valve thats failed inside the unit at a much reduced cost. My dealer confirmed that BMW will not now authorise a full replacement unless there are other serious issues and that just the new fix costs BMW no more than around £160 for parts and around £8 for brake fluid as that needs changing as part of the repair.

In reality anyone going to a dealer now should be paying very little for this repair and if BMW pay for the parts the labour should be no more than £250 as most charge £120 per hour and its a two hour job - apparently.
