I just bought a 2008 335i with 52k on the clock. I pick it up this weekend and was considering buying an extended warranty... here are the prices I was given - they're considerably steeper than what I've seen in this thread:
"3 Star (powertrain coverage) – 3 year plan/36,000 miles $3,469
4 Star (comprehensive coverage) – 3 year plan/36,000 miles $3,762
4 Star Plus (added comprehensive coverage) – 3 year plan/36,000 miles $4,141
5 Star (full comprehensive coverage) – 3 year plan/36,000 miles $4,391
I attached copies of the parts that are covered under the 4 and 5 star plans. Please review the information and let me know if you’re interested in any of them or if you have additional questions.
All levels come with roadside assistance, car rental and trip interruption and they can be transferrable to another owner."
I average around 14000 miles a year. The car has a full bmw service history, with no issues... and the car was $16k.
