The 2013 BMW 535xi from Schomp BMW - A Facelift for the Ages

Over the last decade BMW designers have become plastic surgeons, inserting a little Botox, maybe a tummy tuck and finally a full face lift on the 5 series. These procedures scared a few people but the end result was an all new 5 series that outclassed every rival. Yes, the new 535xi is bigger, much bigger, but it has become more powerful and clever then its predecessors, improving upon every aspect and leaving no rock unturned.

Like a dog rustling awake from a deep sleep the new 535xi shutters awake from the ingenious stop-start system that helps to improve fuel economy. Using the same elaborate technologies on other BMW models the 535xi obtains an astonishing 30mpg on the highway and over 20mpg in the city. The new 535xi makes fuel economy a priority, but it never loses sight of its "ultimate driving experience" persona with a twin turbo 6 cylinder, producing 300horsepower. Gracefully accelerating, the 535xi uses all of its 300 ponies to move its larger rear end from 0-60 in just over 5 seconds, an impressive feat for a car the same size as the last generation 7 series. Even though the new 535xi has grown in every dimension, BMW has some how made the car feel small and agile.

Having such a big car proves difficult to some, who choose to live to the city, where quick, small turns of an agile auto, are a must to avoid pedestrians and traffic congestion and make it to work on time. BMW has solved this problem with what seems to be witchcraft in my eyes or as some say the Integral Active Steering system. This crafty system adjusts the steering response and turns the rear wheels up to 2.5 degrees so you can make smaller turns in tight areas. Making these sharp turns might cause some to spill their morning coffee but BMW again thought of an ingenious system to keep your coffee safe. The ARS or Active Roll Stabilization utilizes front and rear stabilizers to reduce body roll at higher speeds, enabling you to hit every apex on the way to work without spilling your coffee.

The 5 series has evolved over the past decade and culminated in something unique, a car that will last both in design and reliability. Eating less fuel and causing you less stress are just two ways the new 535xi saves you money and gray hair. The intelligent advances in technology along with elegant timeless looks will impress both by- passers and your work carpool.
