I'm about to do the same thing, but I'm just using 2.25" inlet filters. It sounds like you're doing something more than just a set of cones though.
I just got the idea after installing my seibon vented hood............man a couple of cones would be sweet under that vent!!! I'm also using some outterwears on the filters to try and keep some of the rain out of them.
BTW........I knew exactly where you were going with this the second I read the title!!
