Depending on what "extras" you have on the car, you may get false positive codes (such as 2AAF) so it's important to match the mileage of the 3100 codes (limp mode) with either an actual error (i.e. VANOS, HPFP) or lack of it as water and oil will not produce corresponding error codes.
