So far I wrapped my steering wheel trim and covered my CD/DVD slot trim with 3M 1080. Both pieces came out great however they also don't have any complicated curves.
The drivers side vent trim seems challenging since the vinyl has to wrap around the left side but there's also a deep corner on the top to worry about. Whenever I practice the only way I've been able to get it smooth is by stretching a lot, and when I stretch that much it distorts the pattern. Did you use more heat? I only used a hair dryer, perhaps a real heat gun will be better.
