I just installed a paddle steering wheel on my E90 2010
Everything worked fine, I already had the 2 wires inside the wheel, so I only had to install the 2 wires from the steering rack to the gear shift
The only thing I want to add is that left the 2 yellow wires in place, I just connected the 2 new wires to existing ones, I did not cut them (just stripped them)
