It sounds more like you're deleting something from the air intake box. I've heard of a silencer delete, any idea about that?

There's two things in the airbox: a charcoal filter and a regular air filter. The charcoal filter does nothing except catching vapors escaping the engine when your car is off. Over time that filter will get dirty, adding restriction and the thing is that BMW made it permanently attached to the airbox. Deleting this filter allows air to enter the engine easier.
I never tried the silencer delete since I'm not sure how much more sound it will yield compared to stock.
