The features aren't really needed it's just more of CIC plugged in and running Winkfp with the correct addresses regardless of the VO's so it should work.
Not sure what you mean by running the donor vin? I have the donor vin when I did the 2017 maps and have the emulator that's about it.

Put your donor car vin in the page below. It will allow you to download a file. Put it on a USB drive and plug it into the arm rest usb. If the software is newer than what you have, the CIC will display an update button in the system area (I think) This is not a full software update but a small update that specifically updates the combox to support newer bluetooth devices.
