Earlier build 335d's (until 2009/08/28) had the ZF 6HP26Z or TU (technical upgrade) which thereafter was re-designated the 6HP28 (http://appsprod01.zf.com/zf.productD...28_de_2006.pdf). The 6HP26/6HP28 is also found on the E65 7-series and E70 X5 4.8i's. The 6HP28 is a very nice transmission, with a good overall step ratio of 6.04 (between 4.17:1 1st gear to 0.69:1 6th gear).


335i has always had a variant of the 6HP19: The 6HP21
