I know this is a BIT of a stretch, but could Surface's experience allude to newer wastegates being different than the old ones on our laggy 29.2 cars? I've kicked around this theory before, that BMW wrote 29.2 for DIFFERENT HARDWARE (i.e. beefier wastegates). That could be why new (v81) cars aren't plagued with our lag nearly as often.
When I got to the dealer tomorrow, I will ask them if they could replace the wg's and see what they say. It can't hurt.
