I would use that. A pad exactly as such.

The problem with chairs is the fact you can never sit fully upright while "working" on the car. You always have to lean, tweak, bend, and what have you.

I know this sounds crazy but to keep your back healthy this is needed for detailing. You want to keep your spine as straight as possible.
