Good chance it could be a drive belt gone maybe!
Without seeing the car anyone would be guessing!
You need to do some preliminary checks yourself but if you lost drive to the alternator and have killed the battery getting it home there will be all sorts of codes stored many of which will be no help whatsoever!
First step is make sure the alternator is running and giving an output and the battery is taken off the car and fully charged. You will be chasing your tail with a flat battery.
