Flash requires the ECU being reprogrammed. Normally, a few days without the use of the car for aftermarket flashes. Dinan flash can be done while you wait.
Piggyback tunes can be installed/removed in a matter of minutes.
Dinan ECU flash negates the car being CPO'd ..... taking a hit on the future value of the car.
Piggyback tune would be the way to go as long as there isn't any evidence of it's installation left to be found by a nosey dealer/mechanic.
With regard to the overall reliability of a car with a tune installed; install the proper aftermarket parts (upgraded FMIC, cat-back exhaust, downpipes) and the car isn't going to be working any harder than it would having been left in stock form.
