I asked Avin Support for help. below is what I got.
1. "The MOST interface box is only if you are replacing the whole Idrive unit" - OK so now we have stablished that this guy knows nothing because their site explains that it takes the RCA output and directs it to the optical amp.
2. "Their new head-units only output through the aux" - if credible, then disappointing.
