That's one way of looking at it. But another way of looking at it is that the M3 doesn't seem that much worse than the 330i to justify not getting one...

That is true. I also think that tax bill every year at £550 is ridiculous.
It's safe to say though the E92 M3 is an absolute beast of a car and a future classic no doubt. I'll probably own one eventually purely for that V8.
Performance wise my 330i N53 still puts a smile on my face, but the i6 engine note won't compare to that burly v8
