Both excellent but as always it's down to personal taste and requirements.

I'm a petrol head, only ever really had petrol cars so naturally i was after a 335i initially.

Was only put off by the reports of various common failures and at the time the £400 tax bracket. I went with the D in the end.

If you want fun i was very impressed with a manual 330i and the e46 M3 CS is very high ranking in the fun v affordability stakes but you do attract the higher insurance, warranty, tax and servicing costs.

If you like the way the 335i drives is the perfect blend of everything and with a remap it's f-in ballistic.
