That's some logic. "it may be worth upgrading anyway, even if it appears sufficient for now".

If it "appears" sufficient, then it is sufficient. If it becomes insufficient at some later date, replace it then. If that date ever comes. There are plenty of 12 year old pumps that work just fine.
