Bumping this old thread whilst looking for decat possibilities, and I noted valve clearance mentioned.
I wondered if anyone knows how often this should be checked? My car is on 230k and is quite noisy. I know diesels are loud, but this seems a little more "clattery" than others I have driven. I guess this could be one of the issues.
