5mm spacer - safety concern

After having further reading about spacers, I have got a question for 5mm or 8mm spacers which doesn't have a lip.

OEM lip is around 12.5mm depth

Using 5mm spacer will have 7mm lip left for the rim to rest on.
Most rims have a beveled edge on the mounting surface.
So, depending on how depth the beveled edge is, the OEM lip may only have very minimal contact surface to the rim.
Eg,
If rim beveled edge 4mm depth
The rim is only resting on 3mm lip (12mm - 5mm spacer - 4mm beveled edge) which is not safe and as lots of people said - vibrating ride, or worst case the wheel comes off the car during drive

Hub extender is only for the front wheel, so, what could be the solution for the rear wheel apart from going to 10mm or above spacers which have a hubcentric lip?
How much lip should the rims be rest on to be considered safe or adequate? 4-5mm?

For those who are using 5mm spacers, do you notice anything during drive or when mounting the rims on the hub (feel like the rims are not rest steadily on the OEM lip before putting the bolts)?

As someone said, "This is a safety precaution, you dont want to feel the ass end of your car drop and see your Vossen pass your ass on the highway at 80mph."
