In summary if you're adding a 5mm spacer for aesthetics maybe dont bother if you need it for clearance you should be fine.

So, the reduced lip for the rim to be rested on doesn't really a matter in terms of safety?
I could still see extended bolts are needed for 5mm spacers though, agree?
