If need be I was thinking of running a 5mm spacer up front to clean the strut but I am unsure if this would be safe for track use as it takes away 5mm of the hub center that the wheels sit on. There should be 5-6 mm left but that still makes me uneasy. Do any of you guys use 5mm spacers at the track?
It will be safe. While I have switched to extended studs which makes it less of an issue, 5mm spacers are not going to affect the holding power of the lug bolts much. If you are concerned, you can buy 10 extended lug bolts to recapture what is lost.
