I went to a locksmith to get a quote on how much it would be to get a new fob if I didn't have a keylab in my basement and he said he couldn't do it. I wanted to also get my metal key cut but he said it was $35. I am not paying a BMW tax so I walked out. I am going to call around to see if someone will do it at the normal $5-$10 rate.

Keys will be made by the end of the week.
LOL. "BMW tax"? Most of the machines used to cut the high-security milling cost $8k+. Plus all of the other factors that are piled into the $30-35 shops charge to cut these keys. The cutter itself is good for 100 keys, and costs over $200.
