I’m toying with the idea of just getting the cic, controller and sticking in an
android unit. I know I could get a gps antenna and connect it directly to the cic, the other option is a Combox but not sure how / where I’d wire in an antenna. I’m assuming My shark fin only has a radio antenna so not sure of how I’d go about a factory gps setup.

As for the MULF/TCU post a pic of what is under the floor of your trunk. You may have a mulf with BT only and no USB wiring. Or BT may be built into your head unit.
