CEL started coming on intermittently, seemed like it ramped up as summer started and progressively got worse to the point it is now where it doesn't seem to want to go off. the tendency was it came on shortly after i got gas, i fiddled with the gas cap, it went out a few cycles later. i've had the hpfp "recall" so i thought little of it. thing is, i'm actually about 2 years behind on my emissions inspection (SURPRISE! here's your ticket...
), and i need it to go away immediately, and preferably permanently.
took it to autozone and got the code-
P1440 Purge Control Valve Control Circuit Signal High
so far my research has implied that it could be a gas cap, evap valve, and/or charcoal canister. any ideas before i start throwing parts at it?
other details- car is stock, 76k e92 335i, never been modified (to my knowledge, at least- purchased it at 42k).
