Also when I plug in my iphone to the usb in the console, all it does is charge it! On the radio display it attempts to read/load something but stops, or fails. Why is the usb there if all it dose is charge devices? You could easily do this through the cigarette lighter!

You need the OEM iPod cable, not the Apple cable.
You can also set your iPhone iPod section
as a HDD while using the Apple cable...
