I've owned my 35i for 8 years now, when I first bought it I considered a Bmw warranty. Car had done 52,000 miles & I think the warranty was just under £600 but I decided not to go for it.
If I had have taken the warranty it would have cost me slightly more in increasing premiums & excesses than I've had to spend in repairs, although you can spread the cost of the warranty over a year. So if you don't have deep pockets maybe the warranty would work out better.

At 74k it's going to need ofhg, sump & valve cover gaskets, most likely a water pump, hpfp if it hasn't been replaced already. My 35 started to suffer from Westgate rattle around 85k & the tubs had to be replaced at 106k.
