It is a bit involved with using ftp via the cable on an Ethernet port and logging into the CIC to access the files. Definitely possible.

Yeah few options I know of:
$20 ENET cable from ebay - Only works if your car came with CIC and you have the OBD port wired for ethernet. Need to FTP into the unit
$300 ICOM cable - Easiest way to read but expensive. Press a button and the 1B file is in your hands
USB->ethernet converter (only certain chipset will work with the old QNX operating system) - Need to FTP into the unit
