We had that conversation with DFR and TDI a while back. We came to the conclusion that you needed exhaust gas to be pretty hot (>200C, perhaps 250C if I recall) to react and "light off" the chemical reaction. It would appear the cat should be built into the DP. I know someone that will do it and you do too.
