I just did this mod, except I used a screw in the vacuum hose and a temporary rubber hose to cap off the metal (with silicone gel inside one end to cap off the hose). I'll replace the rubber hose (and silicone) with a vacuum cap tomorrow.
I started her up and WOW; I can't believe the difference...didn't think it would sound
that much better (at least during idle).
