Detailing is a hobby of mine like it is for others on the forum. Over the years I've found that Rust-Oleum Wax & Tar Remover works best for just about any type of prep work, and I definitely prefer this over any IPA solution.

At less than $8 it's a fraction of the cost of the designer label products, and it's available just about anywhere - HD, Lowes, Walmart, auto stores, etc. It's clear with no aroma though so if you'd rather have something that looks cool and smells good then it wouldn't be the best choice.
