LOL your kidding, right?
It is supposed to not have a "pattern" as it would be easier for the eye to determine the shape if it did.
They probably will use this for in between testing where most of the body work is complete and they are fine tuning things. Still have the cladding for early prototypes, then rather than begin to reveal things to us, apply the vinyl decal. (which is also easily removable)
This also makes it MUCH harder for magazines and sites to "complete" a test mule car in photoshop (where details of the lights and such used to be covered in black tape)
