I liked the Conti DW better in the summer, but the DWS is still a pretty competent 3-season tire. In light snow they will work in a pinch, but if it's icy or more than a couple inches, forget about it. I just leave my 330i in the garage if it's snowing.
Once we had a freak snowstorm in April, like 8-10" in few hours. I had Toyo R888R's on my 91 325ix. I made it home but it wasn't pretty. I switched to my blizzaks but it all melted in a couple days...
