How does the taxes work. You pay the taxes in the state you purchase and then don't have to pay taxes when you import and register in Canada?

Or will you get taxed twice ? Because i know when you import from US/Canada you usually need to pay taxes (GST i believe) on anything over $10,000

Please clarify if you have any more information on this.
