Since the soonest appointment was more than a week away, I ended up taking it into the dealer the other day to have them check the coolant level (which, in typical BMW fashion, is vastly more difficult than on any other car I've ever driven). To his credit, the service advisor was concerned and didn't want me driving the car. Luckily they had a loaner, so I left the car there. I am told the heater core was faulty and they have ordered a spare. I should have my car back by midweek next week. We shall see . . .
