I've been lurking the forums lately. Thanks! But as you know it's difficult to change colors starting from a base black so it'll never be spot on.
What I did was made an entire layer a deep red, set blend mode to "lighten", and masked it out using a combo of pen and layer mask brushing. Then you play with the brush opacities to make the color look more natural. Just for future reference this method seems to work well on dark cars.
