They can get scrambled and in Seattle airspace within 10 minutes. I remember sitting in my barracks room on JBLM watching a movie when suddenly a huge boom happened and my curtains were flying around. I seriously thought it was my surround sound (which I thought was weird), but I got a couple frantic phone calls asking if I heard it. Checked the news and apparently someone was in Obama's airspace and they scrambled the fighters--the entire Western side of Washington experienced the sonic booms. Amazing technology.
