I sort of understand why you are thinking about the swap. The MX5 isn't old enough or rare enough to be a proper classic.
It's easily the best small RWD car in existence though and the other options just won't be as rewarding to drive.
Now .. do you want a car that people look at or one that drives well?
I'd love an MX5, the only thing stopping me buying one for £5k ish is that I want to wait and get an Elise.
