Agreed, I've driven a buddy's early B8 with a failing DCT. Not sure what the repair bill was but I'm pretty sure he got rid of it. It was tuned to high 11s on the strip but it had no soul like most VAG cars.
I prefer more of a non turbo / manual type deal. Already know the E90 platform, and I'd feel like a POS to ruin a M3 with salty roads in the winter.
