I found exactly the same when I picked up my A7 a few months back.
Had dropped to almost half it's new list price (I know nobody actually pays list price) in well under a year and with less than 5k miles on the clock and like you, it had more toys than Woolworths at Christmas.
Stunning car to drive and the first car in many years I have owned where random people stop me in the car park and complement me on it.
