Comfort Access issues, keyfob dead
I recently lost function of the second keyfob for my wagon and I’m super irritated. Can anyone tell me if this is a fob issue or CA issue? How it went down...
Keyfob A starts giving me battery low warnings. Change the battery (yes I put it in correctly) and keyfob stops working unless inserted in the interior key slot or the backup key pulled and inserted in the door. Ok, so swap keys with my wife since she almost never drives the car... after a few months, keyfob B begins with the low battery warning. Change that battery and now it will not work either.
I think in the 7 years I’ve had the car I replaced at least one of the batteries once and it worked fine. Seems like it would be an issue with the fob since CA worked fine with the other key until I pulled the battery. If it is the keys, holy crap is that some seriously awful electronics engineering for the keys to have a 7 or 8 year lifespan.
Any hope for these things or do I have to visit my dealer and get bent over?
