Don't forget a 1020HP Plaid still holds and EPA rating of over 100MPGe and never has to deal with smog issues of many modified cars.

For further proof, looks at the timed runs a the world famous Goodwood Festival Of Speed. The electric cars surely weighed more than their noisy ICE counterparts. It still was no contest. Look at the Gas Powered Porsche compared to the electric one for a good comparison.
