Fantastic DIY!
I'm going to retrofit LCI folding/dimming mirrors to my Pre-LCI 2008 335i Sport (non-heated) as I've read they are 100% electrically compatible and the slightly larger, squarer mirror would help me avoid traffic when switching lanes. Will also be going the recycled route (eBay is my friend) because buying new mirror bodies and glass would reach $1,200; and that's through the cheapest e-tailers (BMW Parts Pros).
FYI, the switch assembly is slightly different for the Pre-LCI E90/91's and utilizes a pair of pins to attach to the door handle pull cup. You really can't pry this switch assembly up from the door arm rest without breaking off these delicate pins, so if you plan on reselling it, plan on taking off the door panel in order to push the switch assembly straight up to remove it.
