When I hit a manhole cover, Scottish Water accepted responsibility.

Their insurers were Gallagher and Basset too but they have an office up here.

They were slow to respond to things.

It was my tyre and wheel that was damaged and they tried to argue that they were both subject to wear and tear and they weren't willing to match my invoices for a new tyre, wheel repair and tracking.

Only willing to pay part of the amount.

I argued that a wheel should last the life of a car and the tyre would be unlikely to have required changing in my ownership, so I would end up spending money I'd not have to otherwise.

I also highlighted that I had made an effort to keep the costs down by having the wheel repaired rather than asking for a new one.

They settled for my full claim of £460 or £480. Can't remember exactly.

What is the quote you have given them?

How bad did BMW deem the damage?
